Abellio announces new Managing Director for East Midlands Railway

• Management team announced for East Midlands Railway with headquarters in Derby

• Julian Edwards, Deputy MD Abellio UK, appointed as interim MD, East Midlands Railway ahead of launch on 18th August

• Will Rogers will join as MD, East Midlands Railway in January 2020



Will Rogers has been appointed as MD of the latest Abellio franchise, EMR.

Will is currently Managing Director of Arriva Rail London, operator of London Overground, he led the successful mobilisation of the Concession and the first three years of operation.

Previously at CrossCountry, Will held various roles including Head of Fleet and Engineering and Production Director responsible for day to day service delivery. In his time in the rail industry he has worked with manufacturers such as Alstom, Bombardier and Siemens, transport authorities such as TfL and DfT, financiers, operators, advisors, maintainers and the Office of Rail and Road.

Current MD Jake Kelly will leave East Midlands Trains at the end of the current franchise on 18 August.

Julian Edwards, Deputy MD for Abellio UK has been appointed interim MD to ensure a successful launch of the new franchise. Julian has already been meeting stakeholders across the region to share details of the proposed investments including the announcement today of a £400m investment in new trains.

Julian will be working with the new EMR executive team: Finance Director - Tim Gledhill, Operations Director - Darren Ward, Commercial Director - Lawrence Bowman, Customer Services Director - Neil Grabham, Fleet Director - Chris Wright, Transition & Projects Director - Lisa Angus, HSSE Director - Paul Rushton, Human Resources Director - Kirsty Derry.

These appointments will help support our ambitions for the East Midlands Railway to deliver easier journeys as Abellio invests over £600m to give passengers more seats, more services, better stations and new trains.
