Dominic Booth
Chief Executive Officer

  • 36 year career in UK public transport, spanning both public and private sector periods. During his career Dominic has been Managing Director of 6 UK rail companies and has been Chairman of 12 UK TOCs. Prior to forming Transport UK Group, Dominic worked for NS, British Rail, Connex, Prism Rail and National Express. Dominic has successfully built the business from 2007, responsible for setting the ethos and values of the company and recruiting and appointing all of the key business leaders in the Senior Leadership Group.

Edward Walker
Chief Corporate Officer

  • Chief Corporate Officer, General Counsel, Group Data Protection Officer - responsible for overseeing legal, company secretarial, compliance, HR, corporate affairs and communications, after successfully executing the management buyout of Abellio UK. Ed has been a qualified solicitor for 22 years, specialising in corporate finance and M&A and has multi-sector experience across the UK and internationally.

Alan Pilbeam
Chief Commercial Officer

  • 34 year career in UK public transportation, 14 of which in logistics with Tibbett and Britten. During his career Alan has held a number of divisional Managing Director roles across Transport UK and First Group’s bus businesses, as well as director roles across business development, commercial and ancillary businesses. In 2019 Alan was appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer Road and Business Development. Following the management buy-out of Abellio, Alan was appointed as the Chief Commercial Officer Transport UK Group. Alan graduated with a Mathematics degree from London University before studying at Cranfield for an MSc in Distribution & Logistics. Alan is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a Fellow of the CILT and a Fellow and Chartered Director of the IOD.

Chris Harris

Transport UK

  • With a 14 year career in UK public transport within Northern Rail and Transport UK, following a 12 year career in professional services at KPMG and then EY. In 2017 Chris stepped in to the role of Finance Director for Transport UK Group, undertaking responsibility and manage the finances of the company. This includes resource allocation, information provision, budget and forecasting, taxation management, technical accounting compliance and associated governance processes and procedures.

Martin Beable
Managing Director
Greater Anglia

  • Martin has been Managing Director of Greater Anglia since October 2024. He previously spent nearly five years as GA's Engineering Director, where he helped to oversee the full fleet replacement programme and boost GA’s performance. He also led the upgrades for key train maintenance depots at Ilford and Norwich Crown Point and secured excellent commercial relationships with suppliers. All these initiatives contributed to the smooth introduction of a complete fleet of new trains and the industry-leading performance that GA has achieved in recent years.

Ian McConnell

  • Ian has been Managing Director of West Midlands Trains since 2022 and over the previous 15 years has held a number of leadership positions in the rail industry and other Train Operating Companies. Earlier in his career Ian worked as a Management Consultant delivering a number of high-profile projects in transport and other sectors.

  • Managing Director of East Midlands Railway, operator of intercity and regional services from the East Midlands to London, Lincolnshire and Liverpool. Following 22 years in the rail industry, in a range of roles and companies, Will knows that trusting collaborative relationships with an unwavering focus on passengers is at the heart of success. Will has a background in engineering, operations, consultancy and leadership in chemical, manufacturing and rail industries.

David Cutts
Managing Director
Transport UK London Bus

  • David has been Managing Director of Transport UK London Bus since October 2024. As an industry leader, he has led innovation in the bus sector for over 37 years.  An expert in driving sustainable transport forward, under his leadership, Transport UK London Bus operates 10.5% of London's bus network, with over a third of its fleet being fully electric, zero-emission vehicles.

Valerie Mitchell
Managing Director

  • Setting high standards which deliver value for money, Valerie leads Solvd. providing shared business services for both Group and external clients, ensuring services shared are services Solvd. With 20 years’ experience in private, public, and third sectors in senior operational roles, including a pivotal role in the acclaimed Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and a Non-Executive Director for The Rock Trust. Valerie holds various degrees including a MBA with distinction from Strathclyde University.

Darren Willshire
Group Engineering Director

  • Darren has 32 years engineering experience across both the public and private sectors, and as a former British Army Officer, he is an experienced senior leader who has delivered support to operations across the globe. As a Chartered Engineer, he is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (FIET), holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) as well as an MSc in Systems Engineering. Prior to joining Transport UK as their Group Engineering Director in October 2024, he spent 8 years with Hitachi Rail, where as a member of the senior executive team, he was responsible for delivering their portfolio of projects and contacts across the UK including rolling stock manufacturing and build programmes as well as the availability, reliability and safety of over 2,000 vehicles on a daily basis for customers and passengers across 10 train operating companies.

Jane Fisher
Rail Contract Bids Director

  • 15 years of experience in the UK public transport sector. Jane has worked on over 12 major rail and bus bid contracts for several owning groups, including mobilization activities. She also managed the projects to secure three directly awarded National Rail Contracts. Her current role oversees the Client Relations teams at Transport UK’s three DfT TOCs and negotiating the Annual Business Plans including targets and commitments and the submission of the Performance Based Fee reports. She is also responsible for Rail Replacement and other ancillary service bids across Transport UK’s portfolio. Prior to transport, Jane worked in the leisure and tourism industry for nine years and was a management consultant for eight years.

Robert Stansfeld
Financing & Treasury Director

  • Robert started his career with Deloitte rising to Director over 10 years, followed by 8 years with Serco Group plc as a Divisional Finance Director. He has been Corporate Finance Director and now Financing & Treasury Director at Transport UK Group since 2010.

Paul Wright
Director of Financial Projects

  • 15 years of UK transport sector experience, across Northern Rail, Scotrail and Transport UK Group. After senior finance roles at operating company and Group level, Paul is the role of Director of Financial Projects. He is responsible for leading on and delivering significant financial projects across Transport UK, to ensure that they deliver financial efficiency and significant commercial returns for the business and shareholders.

Stephen Hitchen
Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Stephen has worked for Transport UK for over 10 years in a dual bidding and group finance role, responsible for financial modelling and planning across the group, including in connection with the management buyout of Abellio UK. Previous experience in assurance, corporate finance and financial modelling across various sectors working for professional services firms EY and BDO.

Jen Faichney
Head of HR

  • Jen joined Transport UK Group in 2022 bringing over 17 years’ experience in Strategic and operational HR gained within national roles across a range of sectors. Jen is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and holds a BA Honours Degree in HR Management. In her role as Head of HR Jen is responsible for delivering a range of people strategies to attract, engage, develop and retain talent within Transport UK and develop a recognition culture of to drive performance and behaviours aligned to our values which will deliver its business goals. Jen’s remit spans Transport UK and Solvd.

Perry Ramsey
TransportWorks Director

  • Managing Director of TransportWorks consulting since its concept in 2023. Following 40 years in the rail industry in a range of senior executive roles globally including Middle East and Australia. Perry has a background in operations, safety, engineering, and consultancy services.

Mike Riches
Chief Technology Officer

  • Mike Riches is an experienced Chief Technology Officer with over 25 years of experience in the IT industry. Throughout his career Mike has worked across a range of sectors, including renewable power generation, bookmaking, publishing and IT consulting. In his role as CTO at Transport UK, Mike is responsible for ensuring the delivery of IT services across the organisation.

Michael Robertson
Finance Director
Greater Anglia

  • Michael Robertson is Finance Director at Greater Anglia, joining in September 2022 and responsible for overseeing the company’s Finance, IT and Procurement functions. Prior to joining Greater Anglia Michael was the Abellio UK Group Financial Controller. Before joining Abellio in 2017 Michael spent several years working for Grant Thornton UK.
