Merseyrail’s Maghull Station crowned Britain’s best in World Cup of Stations 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Maghull Station, part of the Merseyrail network, has been crowned Britain’s Best Railway Station in the World Cup of Stations 2024!

This prestigious accolade was revealed following a highly competitive final vote last Friday, where Maghull emerged as the winner over strong contenders King’s Lynn and Dorridge.

This year's competition, organized by the Rail Delivery Group, highlighted the diverse and vibrant businesses within our train stations across Great Britain. Maghull Station stood out, not only for its exceptional team and community support but also for its popular local business, The Coffee Carriage. Opened in 2024 and founded by local entrepreneurs, this café has quickly become a beloved community hub, offering delicious artisan bakes and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for commuters and residents alike.

Suzanne Grant, Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Managing Director of Merseyrail, expressed immense pride in this achievement: "Winning the World Cup of Stations is a fantastic accomplishment. It reflects the incredible community support and the dedication of our station team and volunteers. A special thanks to everyone who voted and supported Maghull throughout the campaign."

Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, also shared his delight: "This fantastic achievement is a testament to the spirit of our local community and the hard work of everyone at the station. Congratulations to all involved!"

We at Transport UK Group are proud of Maghull Station's achievement and grateful for the hard work and passion of everyone involved. This victory is not just for Maghull but for all who make our network a vital part of the community.

Thank you to the Rail Delivery Group and to everyone who participated and voted in this year’s World Cup of Stations. Here’s to continuing excellence and community spirit across our stations!
