Since Transport UK Group was awarded the West Midlands Trains franchise in 2017 we have set about investing £1billion in the region’s rail network, including £700m on new and refurbished trains.
West Midlands Trains is a 85:15 joint venture between Transport UK Group and Mitsui.
Two fleets are currently in production, meaning 400 extra carriages for passengers travelling on the West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway services operated by West Midlands Trains.
Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, West Midlands Trains has maintained a reliable, crucial service to the region, working closely with industry partners.
